Many species are small bees and at worst their sting feels like a pinprick.

There are two noteworthy exceptions.

Wasp nests are also capped with mud.

Occasionally, many bees of these species nest in the same area, forming dense aggregations of burrows in the spring.

When solitary bees do nest near each other, that species is called gregarious.
